The wedding of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son has been postponed amid the escalating conflict with Iran. Netanyahu's son, Avner Netanyahu, was set to marry his partner Amit Yardeni on 16 June 2025. The wedding was set to take place at Ronit's Farm in Kibbutz Yakum, i.e. an upscale venue north of Tel Aviv.
However, it sparked public outrage, with anti-government protest groups criticizing the Netanyahu family for planning a celebration while Israeli hostages remain captive in Gaza. Several protest groups had planned to demonstrate near the venue, calling it insensitive because of the ongoing war. Then the wedding was postponed after Israel attacked Iran on 13 June 2025, hitting nuclear sites, missile bases, and military leaders. In response, Iran fired missiles at Israel, triggering emergency alerts across the country.
This is the second time Avner Netanyahu’s wedding to Amit Yardeni has been postponed. It was earlier cancelled due to security threats from Hezbollah. A drone had also hit one of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s homes, though he wasn’t there. After that according to Ynet, Avner Netanyahu had requested that no members of Knesset should be invited to the event, which was to host hundreds of guests.
