A couple has issued a clarification after a video from their wedding went viral and sparked heated debate online. In the clip, the bride is seen booking a cab on her phone while the groom stands beside her smiling. The video, originally shared on Instagram by the couple, was later reshared on X by a user named Matakti Aankhein, who claimed the bride had to arrange the cab herself because “no one in the groom’s family cared about her.” The post quickly went viral, with many calling the incident humiliating and criticizing the groom’s family for ruining the bride’s bidaai moment.
Responding to the controversy, the couple released a video explaining the actual situation. The groom clarified that the car arranged by his family broke down on the way to the venue. Since it is a ritual in their community for the groom to stay at the bride’s home for four days, the bride booked a cab herself because she knew the exact address, making it easier for them to reach her home. He added that the viral interpretation of the clip was misleading and taken out of context.
The couple, who have been in a relationship for 13 years before their marriage, also criticized the X user and a local media outlet for spreading the video without checking facts or contacting them for clarification. Expressing her anger, the bride said their private moment was misinterpreted and turned into unnecessary controversy, while they had simply made the best of an unexpected situation.
