What started as a joyous celebration ended in a dramatic twist in Bihar’s Kaimur district, when a bride abruptly called off her wedding during the Sindoor Daan ceremony i.e. a pivotal moment in Hindu weddings. Everything had been going smoothly. The groom arrived at the bride’s home with a vibrant procession, complete with dancing, music, and the usual festive atmosphere. Guests were celebrating, rituals were being carried out, and nothing seemed amiss, until the groom stepped forward for the sindoor ritual.

As he reached out to apply vermilion to the bride’s forehead, his hand began trembling noticeably. The bride, clearly taken a back, refused to proceed. She alleged that the groom appeared unstable, possibly suffering from a medical issue that had been concealed. Her refusal caught everyone by surprise. Family members from both sides tried to intervene, attempting to calm her and convince her to reconsider. But the bride remained firm on her decision. "How can I marry someone whose condition was hidden from us? He seemed mad," she reportedly said in front of the guests.

With the rising tension, local police were called in. Both families were asked to visit the Bhabhua police station for further discussion. Officers attempted to mediate between them, but after hours of dialogue they reached no solution. The bride stuck to her decision, and the wedding was officially called off. The groom’s family clearly got upset, claiming that they had already spent a large sum on the wedding arrangements. The groom’s father said that the marriage had been arranged for ₹1 lakh, of which ₹90,000 was already paid. He accused the bride’s side of turning the situation around and demanding the remaining money instead of continuing with the ceremony. In this case, a police official said, “No written complaint has been filed yet. We tried to resolve the issue, but the bride’s family didn’t agree to move forward with the wedding.” Eventually, the groom had to return home without a bride. The unexpected turn of events has become the talk of the town, with many people debating the bride’s decision. For now, the matter remains unresolved.
