Thief Steals $100,000 Gift Box at Newlyweds’ Reception in Glendale

A wedding celebration in Glendale, California, turned into heartbreak after a thief stole a large gift box containing $80,000 to $100,000 (Rs 70–88 lakh) in cash and checks. George and Nadeen Farahat were celebrating their nuptials at the Renaissance Event venue on August 30 when the shocking incident took place, leaving the couple and their guests stunned.

CCTV footage showed a bald man dressed in black casually mingling at the reception for nearly 90 minutes before fleeing with the gift box. He was seen moving around the hall, even ordering a drink, before picking up the box and running out to a waiting black Mercedes SUV. Police later described the suspect as a middle-aged man of Middle Eastern or White descent, but he remains unidentified.

The couple expressed their devastation, calling it a terrifying experience. Nadeen recalled breaking down on the dance floor after learning about the theft, while George focused on the silver lining, saying he was grateful no one was hurt. Despite the loss, the newlyweds are trying to stay positive and cherish their marriage.
