While the world was busy celebrating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, another royal wedding quietly took place. On August 25, 2025, Bhutan’s Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck married Ugen Choden Namgyel in a traditional ceremony at Dechencholing Palace in Thimphu.
The royal family shared the news on Instagram, announcing that the couple received blessings from King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, and religious leaders. Prince Jigyel, apart from his royal duties, is known for his work in sports and currently serves as president of the Bhutan Olympic Committee and a member of the International Olympic Committee.
This wasn’t the only royal wedding update this year. Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein is also set to tie the knot with Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer at Vaduz Castle. While details remain under wraps, the guest list is expected to include European royals and global dignitaries.
